Muhammad (Saw:) name in Jabur,Tawrah & Bible

The name and prophecy of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are mentioned in earlier divine scriptures like the Tawrah (Torah) and Injil (Bible), and alluded to in the Zabur (Psalms).

Let’s explore this with authentic Islamic sources (Hadith and Qur’an), and references from the previous scriptures.

🌿 1. The Qur’an itself confirms this prophecy

📖 Qur’anic Evidence

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel…”
Surah Al-A‘raf (7:157)

This verse clearly declares that the mention (or prophecy) of Muhammad ﷺ is present in both the Torah and Gospel.

📚 2. Mention in the Tawrah (Torah)

In authentic Hadith, the Prophet ﷺ himself mentioned how he was described in the Torah.

🔹 Authentic Hadith

Narrated by ‘Ata bin Yasar:

“I met Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As and asked him about the description of Allah’s Messenger ﷺ in the Torah. He said:
‘Yes, by Allah, he is described in the Torah with some of the qualities attributed to him in the Qur’an, such as:
“O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness, a bringer of glad tidings, and a warner, and a protector for the unlettered. You are My servant and My Messenger. I have named you al-Mutawakkil (the one who depends upon Allah). You are neither harsh nor severe, nor do you shout in the marketplaces. You do not repay evil with evil, but you forgive and overlook. Allah will not take you until He makes straight the crooked religion through you — so that they say: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.”’”
Sahih al-Bukhari (Book 61, Hadith 220)

Authentic (Sahih al-Bukhari) — this proves that even the Torah had the prophecy of a coming messenger named al-Mutawakkil with the qualities of Muhammad ﷺ.

📜 3. Mention in the Zabur (Psalms)

In Zabur (Psalms) — which was revealed to Prophet Dawud (David) عليه السلام — Allah foretold the coming of a final messenger whose followers would prevail.

“And We have already written in the Zabur (Psalms), after the reminder, that the earth will be inherited by My righteous servants.”
Surah Al-Anbiya (21:105)

📖 This matches Psalm 37:29:

“The righteous shall inherit the earth, and dwell therein forever.”

✅ Islamic scholars (like Ibn Kathir) interpret this as a prophecy about the Ummah (nation) of Muhammad ﷺ — those who will inherit the earth and establish justice.

✝️ 4. Mention in the Injil (Bible)

In the Gospel (Injil), Prophet Isa (Jesus) عليه السلام foretold the coming of Ahmad (another name for Muhammad ﷺ).

“And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said:
‘O Children of Israel! I am indeed the Messenger of Allah to you, confirming what came before me of the Torah, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.’”

Surah As-Saff (61:6)

✝️ Gospel Confirmation (John 14–16)

In the Gospel of John, Jesus (peace be upon him) said:

“And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter (Greek: Parakletos), that he may abide with you forever.”
John 14:16

“But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, he shall testify of me.”
John 15:26

🟢 The Greek word Parakletos (meaning one who is praised or advocate) — many early scholars and Islamic researchers note that it’s similar in meaning to Ahmad, which means the Praised One, another name for Muhammad ﷺ.

🌟 “Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in Earlier Scriptures”

— 10 Chapters with References —

Chapter 1: The Qur’an’s Own Testimony

Reference:

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel…”
(Surah Al-A‘raf 7:157)

➡️ The Qur’an itself declares that the Jews and Christians had clear prophecies about the coming of the final Prophet ﷺ, described as “unlettered,” “merciful,” and a “bringer of light.”

Chapter 2: The Covenant with All Prophets

Reference:

“And [recall] when Allah took the covenant of the prophets, [saying], ‘Whatever I give you of the Scripture and wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger confirming what is with you, you [must] believe in him and support him.’”
(Surah Aal-‘Imran 3:81)

➡️ All prophets were informed that a final Messenger would come — Muhammad ﷺ — and they were commanded to believe in him.

Chapter 3: Prophet Moses Foretold Him (Tawrah – Deuteronomy 18:18)

Reference:

“I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put My words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.”
(Deuteronomy 18:18)

➡️ “From among their brethren” — the Israelites’ brethren are the Ishmaelites, descendants of Ismail (AS).
➡️ “Like unto thee” — meaning, like Moses: a law-giver, a statesman, and a leader — just as Muhammad ﷺ was.

Chapter 4: The “Parakletos” (Comforter) in the Injil

Reference:

“And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.”
(John 14:16)
“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, he shall testify of me.”
(John 15:26)

➡️ The Greek word Parakletos (helper/advocate) is believed by some early scholars to refer to Ahmad (another name of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, see Qur’an 61:6).

Chapter 5: Jesus (‘Isa AS) Announced Ahmad by Name

Reference:

“And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said: ‘O Children of Israel, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you, confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.’”
(Surah As-Saff 61:6)

➡️ Ahmad means “the most praised,” same root as Muhammad, confirming the same person foretold in the Gospel.

Chapter 6: Psalms (Zabur) Foretelling a Universal Messenger

Reference:

“He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.”
(Psalm 72:8)
“And men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.”
(Psalm 72:17)

➡️ Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the only prophet whose message spread to all nations, fulfilling this description of a universal Messenger.

Chapter 7: The Song of Solomon (Old Testament Allusion)

Reference:

“His mouth is most sweet; yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend.”
(Song of Solomon 5:16)

➡️ The Hebrew word used is “Machmadim” — plural of Machmad (محمّد) — literally meaning “the praised one.”
➡️ Thus, it directly contains the name Muhammad in the original Hebrew text.

Chapter 8: The Prophet from Paran

Reference:

“The Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; He shined forth from Mount Paran, and He came with ten thousands of saints.”
(Deuteronomy 33:2)

➡️ Sinai = Moses (AS), Seir = Jesus (AS), Paran = region of Makkah (descendants of Ismail).
➡️ “Ten thousand saints” — corresponds to the 10,000 companions who entered Makkah victoriously with the Prophet ﷺ.

Chapter 9: Isaiah’s Vision of the New Law

Reference:

“For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”
“He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
(Isaiah 42:4)

➡️ This chapter speaks of a servant of God from Kedar (Ismail’s descendants) who will bring a new law, fitting the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ perfectly.

Chapter 10: The Qur’an Confirms the Chain of Revelation

Reference:

“Say: O People of the Book, you have nothing until you uphold the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.”
(Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:68)

➡️ The Qur’an is the final revelation that confirms the truths of all previous scriptures — including their prophecies about the coming of the Final Prophet ﷺ.

🌙 Conclusion

From Moses to Jesus, every divine scripture hinted toward one final universal Messenger who would bring the final law and complete message of Tawheed (Oneness of Allah) — that Messenger is Muhammad ﷺ.

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.”
(Surah Al-Ahzab 33:40)
